Match report

Menai Bridge 13 Holyhead 3.  It was a narrow winning margin for Bridge to complete the double on rivals Holyhead. The first half was a stop start affair. Neither team were able to control the match although Bridge edged possesion and territory and looked most likely to break the deadlock. Eventually Dion McGrath scored a penalty, which was the only score of the half. The second half started well for Bridge and an aggressive defence won the ball back and fed Steffan Davies on the left wing. He seized his opportunity and crafted his way to the line with an incisive break. The seond try for Bridge came soon after, where once again from scrappy play, Dion McGrath received a superb pass  and danced through the defence for his touch down. To make his conversion easier he raced to the posts for his score. Unfortunately the plan didn't work as his conversion edged wide. At 13 to nil the match could have gone one of two ways, however Holyhead rallied strongly and enjoyed the majority of possession and territory for the remainder of the half. They earned a penalty and pressed hard for a try which would have made for a nervy end to the match. Bridge though held out and defended furiously to the final whistle. They extend their lead at the top of Division 3, however Bro are accumulating games in hand as they didn't play yesterday. Onwards to sunny Rhyl for the next match.
