Menai Bridge 47 - 7 Colwyn Bay II

A depleted Colwyn Bay side applied themeselves impressively to make this match hugely competitive despite the score advantage for Bridge. Logan Jones opened the scoring with the first try of his hatrick. Bay were not to be outdone and soon equalised and then spent a long time pressing the home defence, which stood firm. Jones was joined on the scoresheet by Captain Dave Williams who bagged a brace. Eventually Bridge managed to take advantage of the numerical advantage and the highlight of the game was a great solo try by flyhalf Pat Roberts. Breaking theough the defence he managed to power on with numerous handoffs energising his run each time he looked as if he was running out of steam. There were numerous impressive performances from the home players. The forwards worked hard, no one more than Tino Williams who charged at everything all afternoon. Man of the match went to Vaughan Francis who enjoyed his runout at flanker and was outstanding. Bridge play Port at home next Saturday.
