Rhyl 2nds 0 - 78 Bridge

Bridge put on a show of running rugby in the Rhyl sunshine to maintain their lead at the top of Division 3 North West.

Fly half Pat Roberts opened the scoring with a run from outside the Rhyl 22, slicing through the home defence before stepping the final defender to score under the posts.

Bridge were playing with good intensity and ambition as they moved the ball wide at every opportunity. They were rewarded as Dan Hughes, Dave Williams and Steffan Davies all crossed the whitewash.

The pick of the tries came midway through the second half. Prop Adam Goodwin received a kick in his own 22 and ran it back with purpose, swatting aside half a dozen would be tacklers on his way to a memorable score.

Alex Clarke capped an impressive performance with his first try for Bridge as he busted through the Rhyl defence, following good work by the forwards.

Centre Logan Jones kept the home defence busy all game with his direct running and he deservedly picked up the man of the match award. The second of his two tries saw him break a tackle on the halfway line before showing an impressive turn of pace to dot down between the posts.

Number 8 Gareth Parry slotted eight conversions, including some impressive kicks from out wide.

We're extremly grateful to Rhyl for their efforts to fulfil this fixture, despite struggling for numbers and fielding a scratch team. They battled to the very end and can be very proud of their efforts.

Next week Bridge welcome Caernarfon 2nds to Llyn y Felin for their penultimate league fixture.
