Match Report: Rhos 24 - 31 Menai Bridge

A match of contrasting styles saw Rhos aiming to steamroller the smaller Bridge side through their power play, whilst Bridge tried to open up the game.

The home side started well and in the opening quarter had built a 12 points to nil lead from tries for Mike Muia and Dan Roberts. Bridge then managed to gain field position and scrum half Ed Williams wriggled over from a 5 metre line out for his try. Bridge then closed the deficit as Dan Hughes found a gap from full back to score a try. The conversion took Bridge  to a 14 to 12 lead which they held at half time.

Shortly after the restart McGrath added a penalty for Bridge, but Rhos responded well again through their forwards with number 8 Jack Norris rounding off a number of forward drives with a try. Rhos extended their lead when Simon Bala scored in the corner to take the score to 24 -17.
Bridge fought back as spaces appeared and the ball was moved wide. Winger Logan Jones bagged a pair of tries with some intelligent pacey running. With a seven point lead and playing deep in the Rhos half Bridge were able to rundown the clock and picked up a valuable away bonus point win. Rhos had the consolation of two well deserved bonus points.

Bridge entertain Holyhead at home next week in a keenly anticipated Island derby.
