Match report: Mold 2nds 20 - 13 Menai Bridge

Mold notched up a home win, thanks to a powerful second half performance that took the half time lead away from visitors Menai Bridge.

The early exchanges resulted in a penalty each. Bridge fought their way into the game through some effective forward drives that led to captain Ed Williams spotting the gap from a try line ruck for his try. Mold replied soon after with a try from winger Owen Jones who capitalised on good forward posession and slick movement of the ball to his wing. As the half closed, Bridge were shading the advantage by using their forward pick and go tactic. Prop Adam Goodwin could not be stopped and his try gave Bridge a lead of 13 to 8, which they took into the interval.

For the first 20 minutes of the half neither team could trouble the scorers, as they cancelled each other out. Gradually Mold managed to combine their forward impetus with some sharp running from the backs. Chris Holmes earned an excellent try, with the conversion giving Mold the lead. Mold continued to press and were able to release David Hough on the wing for a try. Bridge could not escape from their half at the death and the final score was 20 to 13 for Mold.
