Match report: Menai Bridge 67 - 15 Caernarfon 2nds

Without a league fixture, Menai Bridge welcomed Caernarfon 2nds to Llyn Y Felin for a friendly, to revive the old Gwynedd League rivalry that the Clubs enjoyed before the national leagues. The question was, which Bridge team would turn up this week. A first half of 41 unanswered points emphatically answered that question.

Caernarfon struggled to cope with the pace of Bridge's attacks and Man of the Match centre Vaughn Francis was a thorn in their side, scoring a try and putting team mates into space. Bridge amassed seven tries in the first half.

Caernarfon regrouped at half time and came out with a fresh purpose for the second half. Alan Mark playing at eight scored a close range try for Caernarfon. They managed to hold out Bridge for the next 20 minutes, mounting several good attacks. Bridge settled down and Francis claimed his second try as did winger Logan Jones. Caernarfon responded with an excellent run by winger Aron Pritchard for a well taken try.

Bridge enjoyed another period of ascendancy that provided two tries for winger Patrick Roberts that brought up a Patrick hat trick. Caernarfon closed strongly, attacking Bridge's line and despite the home team's best defensive efforts Jordan Thomas crashed in at the corner to close the game at 67 -15.

All eyes will be on Cardiff next Saturday. The Wales V England match will be shown on the big screen at the club.
