Menai Bridge 44 - 3 Holyhead

The second half of the season started with a home win for Bridge. Following the split in Division 2 North, Bridge now have a further 3 matches after their encounter with Holyhead.

Perfect conditions enabled both teams to enjoy a very competitive contest. Star of the show was centre Sam Williams who scored a hat trick of tries for the home team. There were a further five tries for the Bridge , which were hard earned against a very spirited and, competitive Holyhead side. Ashley Gilligan was first on the score sheet, barging over from close quarters. Full back Pat Roberts exploited space for the second score, soon followed with another when he ran a cross field angle to evade the defence.

Bridge were able to control the game through their direct forward play, which opened up the game for their backs and eventually as the Holyhead defence tired gaps were exploited. Aled Thomas and James Jones added to the home tally with a try apiece. Both teams have had their challenges this season but, on the evidence of today's match, they should be optimistic for a successful run in to the end of term.
