Match report: Mold 2nds 8 - 9 Menai Bridge

This was a very competitive match in which neither team were able to convert effort into execution. Ball retention was an issue for both teams as they regularly coughed up possession and consequently were unable to put any phase play together. Mold broke the deadlock with a penalty converted by Ian Webber. The lead was soon snuffed out as Dion McGrath scored a penalty for the visitors. The highlight of the half was a try for winger Adam Campbell who showed an excellent turn of pace and scored wide out. The try went unconverted and the half closed with Mold leading by 8 to 3.

Bridge edged possession and territory in the second half but failed to cross the line. Their reward was a further two penalties for McGrath who clawed Bridge back into the game with a one point lead at 9 points to Mold's 8. Bridge used their bench to inject fresh energy into their efforts, but Mold soaked up the pressure and looked dangerous when their back runners were in action. Eventually time ran out for the home team who failed to score in the second half. Bridge defended their one point lead doggedly and were glad to hoof the ball off the pitch as Mr Davies called time.
