Match report: Flint 34 - 19 Menai Bridge

Flint started the match well, attacking the Menai Bridge line in the opening exchanges, however Bridge broke out, hacked ahead and centre Gwydion Efans showed some great ball skills to dribble over the try line and touch down. Gareth Parry kicked the conversion.

The next passage of play saw Flint attacking again and Bridge breaking out . Another hack through came close to the Flint line, however this time Flint scrambled clear. Having had another scare, Flint took a grip on the match. Their forwards carried the ball well and created space out wide as the Bridge defence was sucked in. They were rewarded with a try  for Sam Robinson, then one on the opposite wing for Ryan Hayward and to top it off one up the middle for centre Jamie Elder, soon followed by another for Hayward which gave Flint a bonus point.

Having leaked tries like a sieve, Bridge went back to basics and attacked through the forwards, resulting in a try for flanker Robat Jones, converted by Parry. Flint closed the half with another try out wide for Sam Robonson and the score at the interval stood at 27 - 14.

Bridge rallied in the second half, scoring first through Gareth Parry, who hit the woodwork with his attempted conversion. Flint replied with a try for winger Tom Prydderch, which was converted to take the score to 34 - 19. Bridge finished strongly forcing Flint to concede penalties but, despite the visitors pressure, Flint defended their line and held Bridge up three times to prevent a fourth try and a consolation point.
Mr Parry blew for full time to the delight of the home crowd and a well deserved win for Flint.
