Another sunny afternoon at Llyn Y Felin saw Bridge host old rivals Abergele in the second pre-season game of the year. This was to be a much different type of game from Thursday evening's physical forward orientated battle with Porthmadog. The game began just as differently, with Bridge employing a much more expansive game plan and were rewarded by taking the lead. The first half is where the home side won the match with Bridge's play taking the game away from the visitors. The afternoon saw Bridge score five tries with prop Adam Goodwin with a brace plus one each from Gareth Parry, Harry Williams and Tom Spence (the latter’s first for the club). Fly Half Dion McGrath kicked four conversions and was also nominated man of the match by the visitors for his overall performance.
Two games in three days has seen Bridge come away with two really good wins; most pleasing is the manner in which they had put the disappointment of Thursday night's performance behind them and come away with an excellent home win against Abergele. Three training sessions remain before our first league game away to Mold 2nds on September 2nd, and the coaching team have a number of selection options to discuss and decide upon after a number of impressive performances from the 30 strong squad over the past few weeks.
Training is at 7:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday this week and there is also a training session on Saturday 12.30 pm. This Saturday also sees the squad staying at the club to watch the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final at 3:00pm followed by a BBQ. A warm welcome is given to anyone that wishes to join us.
