Good playing conditions and two well matched teams led to a highly entertaining game at Llyn Y Felin.
Dion McGrath opened the score for Bridge with a penalty from the 10 metre line. Flint then piled on the pressure on the home defence, forcing them to concede a number of penalties. Damien Goss slotted one for Flint to equalize the score. Bridge then won a scrum and Darren Jones sprinted away for a 30 metre run to score a try converted by Dion McGrath. Flint got back into the game through their forwards. A series of 5 metre scrums lead to a try for Ryan Tyrone, converted by Goss. On the stroke of half time Bridge won a penalty that was slotted by McGrath for a 13 - 10 half time lead.
Flint started the second half pressurising Bridge and soon earned a penalty to equalise the scores. With the game on a knife edge, Bridge produced the best play of the game; a quick line out ball was spread to midfield where centre Vaughn Francis shredded the Flint defence with a direct run. Full back Pat Roberts joined the attack and was fed the ball to score. The conversion from Dion McGrath left the score at 20 - 13. Flint were not to be outdone and impressive winger Andrew Hewitt raced in for a try converted by Goss to equalise at 20 - 20. With a quarter of an hour to go, the game could have gone either way and, critically, Bridge scored the next points. Scrum half Darren Jones slotted a penalty that was the final score of the game and a tense final session was played out without any further points.
A losing bonus point was scant reward for Flint's impressive contribution to the contest, however Bridge ground out a good home win to keep the pressure on the league leaders.
