Match report: Menai Bridge 55 - 0 Benllech

Menai Bridge were eager to avenge the derby defeat  that Benllech inflicted on them when they last met. They did so in style, with a comprehensive 9 try win.

Benllech struggled to cope with the pace of the home side's game. Bridge used their forwards effectively, their direct running causing real problems in the Benllech defence. The forwards hard work laid the foundation for Bridge's backs to cut loose. Winger Dan Hughes bagged a pair as did full back Pat Roberts. The 4th try and bonus point was secured in the first 20 minutes of the match. A dominant home scrum also secured a penalty try when Benllech infringed, as their scrum was shunted backwards over their try line.

To their credit Benllech rallied in the second half and enjoyed long periods of possession, but were unable to breach the home defence. Bridge kept asking questions and scrum half Darren Jones's typical sniping run opened up the field for a fine try. The final try of the match was reward for the forwards graft as Morris bulldozed his way to the line.

Bridge will hope to maintain their momentum as they welcome Flint next week. An early noon kick off is scheduled ahead of the Wales v Georgia match at 2:30pm which will be shown live in the clubhouse.
